  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and letting me find you! I just love your blog, it’s so wonderful. I look forward to spending some more time on it. Like you one of my favorite things is cooking a good meal while listening to my favorite music. Oh how I wish I was musically inclined (I’m pretty sure in a past life I was a rock star).

  2. I love the combo; music and food. It can’t get better than that! Nice job!

    Hi Reese and mac

Thanks for dropping by and glad you enjoyed reading the posts.

  5. I’m so happy I’ve found your blog! 😀 And isn’t it awesome that I’ve found it while listening to Chopin’s wonderful 2nd piano concerto (1st movement)? I totally love Chopin’s music, and I also love to play it myself! He’s my favorite composer of all times! And I’m so happy I’ve finally found a fellow blogger who shares the same passion. 😀 I’m so much looking forward to reading more, and I’ll be back for sure!

  6. I also love that you have the sheet music of the wonderful A flat major Etúde in your header. I want to play that one soon. :)

      Hi Kath,

Very perceptive and observant of Chopin’s etude in A flat major music score on my blog header! You are only the second person to notice it :) The other person who noticed is a friend and wonderful pianist who loves good food and music. He was a strong inspiration for me to start this blog.

This piece was truly satisfying to learn because the beautiful melody does not appear until you practice enough that you can play the inner voices passively.

And beautiful legato only comes with more and more practice. I’m glad you chose to learn this one because it is such a beautiful piece.

Let me know how you go and we can exchange notes.

      • It’s on my list of next pieces to play! Currently, I’m working on refreshing pieces I’ve played before (Nocturnes in E minor (posthumous), D flat major, C sharp minor (posthumous), Fantaisie Impromptu, Waltz in C sharp minor, and I still work on improving the beautiful C minor Nocturne), and when I’m done with that, I’ll learn a new one.

During my first two years of playing, I made the mistake to learn pieces merely by learning the hand movements instead of understanding the harmonies. In the third year, I’ve started analyzing the pieces and learning the harmonies. (The C minor Nocturne was the first piece which I learned that way, and I feel that I have a much better understanding of the piece and more security while playing.) So, I’m taking the pieces I’ve played before and re-learn them in a way for more profound understanding to build some kind of repertoire.

        Do you know this site?

If not, I think you may want to check it out! You can download almost every classical music score as pdf for free there.

The waltz in C sharp minor is also a fond piece because I learnt that very early on when I started playing. You are truly a great musician having achieved so much in such a short time.

I strongly believe in committing all the music to memory as the first task. Once this is achieved, I find it a lot easier to form my own expression and style for playing the piece really well.

And once committed to memory, you never quite forget the piece. Like you said, we might need to refresh it every now and then and all the notes come flooding back like a flash.

Yes, I know this site. It is fantastic and I have downloaded a lot of sheet music from there.

          • Very interesting! I strongly believe in that you can only play really well when you can play everything by heart. (With that I don’t mean from the “hand memory”, but truly knowing the piece you could write it down completely from your memory.)

            I thought you’d know the site. 😉

You have a great little webspace here and I am loving your series of hearty autumn/wintery meals.

  8. I wonder if you have chosen your name, Chopinand, not only for completing the blog name with your wife in a very clever way, but also to include part of the Hindi word “ananda” which means bliss. Chopin’s music is bliss for sure, so this fits very well. :)

  10. Hi to both of you. You’ve got a lovely blog. As I scrolled down your front page, I have to say that that nice chunk of Parmesan put a smile on my face … now that you’ve visited my blog I assume you know why. Looking forward to sharing recipes with you.

  11. Food, wine and music, what more could you ask. Makes me want to visit Sydney and try out this fabulous places to eat. I tried your ‘chicken pie made easy’, it was a real hit – I love your site it is so lovely. Thank you.

Hello, Excellent blog. Some truly wonderful posts on this site, thank you for contribution.

  14. Charles says:

Oh! I love Chopin too – your playing is beautiful – touching and moving! It makes me wish I’d kept up with my piano playing when I was younger! Thanks for coming by my blog and enabling me to discover yours! Looking forward to reading your posts :)

  15. I admire how you play the piano so beautifully! I have always loved listening to music, and wish that I can play an instrument. Music can convey so much emotions. Listening to a well-played music piece is like being on a ride with the composer through his/her emotional journey. I love that!

I to am a great follower of food and drink recepes, and have started a FB site called Good Food Club. Although in its infancy, there is a strong following already.
I have a mantra which goes….’Many people eat to live, and then there are people such as myself who live to eat’. I would appreciate any input of recepes with pictures.
