The vibe is casual, just like the food.
But the view of the Indian ocean is nothing short of spectacular.
~~~~~~~~O~~~~~~~~
It might have been a long time coming for this stretch of paradise along City Beach where my sister and her family lives in Perth.
Finally, gone is the dated old beach arena of yesteryear.
In its place is a spanking new complex housing new restaurants and an outdoor arena. We are here on a weekday for breakfast and it’s bursting with locals from nearby City Beach, Floreat and Wembley.
The outdoor arena is carpeted with manicured lawns while majestic pine trees overlook the deep blue yonder of the Indian ocean.
The entire length of the dining room is designed to capture water views and it’s almost full house before lunch hour. Needless to say, the alfresco tables are popular for soaking up the West Australian sunshine.
Mysaucepan settles for a spicy Bloody Mary ~ tomato juice laced with black pepper, Tabasco, Worchestershire sauce, a bold swig of Vodka, crispy bacon and a sprig of celery to stir it all together.
This is definitely my all-time favourite Sunday morning indulgence except it’s a Wednesday today … or is it Thursday? Who cares when we are spending quality time with great company on a glorious day.
Crisp and eggy French toast is topped with roasted banana wrapped in pancetta, micro herbs and a generous drizzle of maple syrup.
Summer French bean salad is a crunchy mix of cherry tomatoes, mint, basil, chunky pieces of smoked bacon, borlotti beans and slow-poached egg on a slice of sourdough.
Grilled haloumi on sourdough is topped with red chimichurri, rocket leaves, roasted truss tomato and avocado slices.
Tasmanian salmon is topped with strips of crunchy potato hash, kale, rich eggy béarnaise and toasted quinoa.
My 63 degree Celcius slow-poached eggs on grilled organic toast are wobbly and patiently waiting for me to perform the usual egg porn. And I shall not disappoint you.
So here it is …
With a gentle yield of my knife, a rich gooey yolk bursts and slowly trickles onto a slice of smoky grilled bacon. Need I say more?
Whoah I’d totally be up for that French toast. Yum!
